Substance Abuse Treatment in Adult and Juvenile Correctional Facilities: Findings from the Uniform Facility Data Set 1997 Survey of Correctional Facilities

Findings concerning on-site substance abuse treatment provided by correctional facilities to their inmates or residents are presented. In addition to aggregate figures for all correctional facilities, statistics specific to federal prisons, state prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities are also given. Some of the tables provide data regarding: treatment settings and facility type; the number of inmates in treatment; counseling services; and patient-to-treatment staff ratios. During 1997, 40% of all correctional facilities provided on-site substance abuse treatment. Accession Number: 016166
