Limes to Limes: Comparing the Operational Costs of Juvenile and Adult Correctional Programs in Texas

"Uniform cost per day" operational cost figures for juvenile and adult correctional programs for 1999 and 2000 in Texas are presented. This report is comprised of four sections: introduction to cost calculation and reporting guidelines; average cost per day; program descriptions; and historical overview tables. The most expensive criminal justice program was incarceration -- $129.36 per day for juveniles and $40.65 per day for adults. Community supervision was the least costly intervention at $8.65 per day for juveniles and $2.05 per day for adults. Accession Number: 016676
