Justice by Gender: The Lack of Appropriate Prevention, Diversion and Treatment Alternatives for Girls in the Justice System: A Report

Issues related to the exponential growth of juvenile female offenders are addressed. This report is comprised of the following sections: introduction; the context of girls and delinquency; girls' pathways into delinquency -- the needs for developmentally sound services and future research; bias in handling of girls' cases -- arrest/charging and filing, detention, the need for dispositional alternatives, and a continuum of care and services; and conclusion.
