Treatment Services in Adult Drug Courts: Report on the 1999 National Drug Court Treatment Survey: Executive Summary

Substance abuse treatment and other treatment services used by and issues regarding the obtaining and delivering of high-quality comprehensive treatment services by adult drug courts are reported. This executive summary discusses survey background, major findings, implications of six policy considerations, future research possibilities, and concluding thoughts. The majority of drug courts (42%) have between 50-150 participants. The top five types of dedicated and external treatment programs include intensive outpatient (93%), residential (92%), outpatient (85%), detoxification (82%), and alcohol and other drug education (82%).
