Federal Bureau of Prisons Clinical Practice Guidelines: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) Dyspepsia, and Peptic Ulcer Disease

Recommendations for the medical evaluation and treatment of federal inmates with heartburn, acid indigestion, upper abdominal pain and discomfort, suspected peptic ulcer disease, or acute abdomen are presented. This document contains parts about: diagnosis -- history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies and procedures; treatment for GERD, dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and MALT lymphomas; chronic disease management; and inmate education.
