Drug Courts: Better DOJ Data Collection and Evaluation Efforts Needed to Measure Impact of Drug Court Programs

Recommendations for executive action based upon an analysis of the U.S. Department of Justice's efforts to collect data about drug courts is presented. Two conclusions are made: the DOJ has not sufficiently managed the collection and utilization of performance and outcome data collected from federally funded drug court programs; and the DOJ's effort to complete a national impact evaluation of DCPO-funded drug court programs has fallen short of its objective. Agency comments on this report are also included. Accession Number: 017697
