Childhood Victimization and Delinquency, Adult Criminality, and Violent Criminal Behavior: A Replication and Extension. Final report

The relationship between child abuse and neglect and delinquency, adult criminality, and violent criminal behavior is investigated. Six sections follow an abstract (executive summary): introduction; design and methodology; demographic characteristics of the abuse and neglect group and matched controls; findings according to overall frequency of arrests, childhood victimization and arrests for violence, the relationship between placement status and arrest, and the role of early behavior problems and placement status at dependency; limitations; and summary and conclusions. Abused and neglected children are likely to be arrested 4.8 times more than the control group. Accession Number: 018902
