A framework for effectively implementing evidence-based practice in probation and community corrections is described. Topics discussed include: what we know about recidivism, risk factors, and treatment services; what program providers will need to do -- research supported strategies and treatment models and eight principles for effective treatment; what probation officers will need to do and their supervision activities; what probation supervisors will need to do and their responsibilities; what agency administrators will need to do and their responsibilities; and what knowledge and skills probation staff and program providers will need to have.
