Correction officers have been relieved of the time-consuming task of answering inmates' questions in six categories by using computer technology. Marion County (Oregon) officers devised a system to give inmates limited access to their computerized files to answer some of their most frequently asked questions, thereby freeing the officers to attend to other tasks. Both inmates and staff report that it is successful.
