Allegheny County Brings Welfare to Work to the Jail

An example of a useful approach to jail and community agency collaboration is the Welfare to Work program. It benefits both the jail and the local Welfare to Work agency to cooperate and provide services to incarcerated welfare clients in order to prepare them to leave welfare and become employed upon release. So far, 87 inmates have benefited from the program being run by the Allegheny County Department of Human Resources within the Allegheny County Jail. Accession Number: period179
